COMPASS Vector 2x Digital Compass

Vector 2x digital compass kit comes with user manual and application note. Please refer to official Handyboard homepage for downloading software driver . Here is the datasheet .

GP2Y0A700K0F (analog) IR Ranging Module

This sensor takes a continuous distance reading and returns a corresponding analog voltage with a range of 1m (40") to 5.5m (~220"). The sensor package includes a JST 5-pin connector and five pre-crimped wires. The GP2Y0A700K ('0A700') is significantly larger, has a different pinout, and draws more current than the other Sharp IR sensors. It is not intended as a drop-in replacement for any of these sensors. The sensor is ideally suited for long-range sensing and localization in large spaces and its range is comparable to some sonic range finders. Here is the datasheet.

Thermal Array Sensor

The TPA81 is a thermopile array detecting infra-red in the 2um-22um range. It has eight thermopiles arranged in a row and can measure the absolute temperature of 8 adjacent points simultaneously. Measurements are in Celsius. It can detect a candle flame from up to 2 meters away. Other warm objects like people, a hot coffee mug, etc. can also be detected. The TPA81 module also has a servo output that can be used to pan the module and build up a thermal image. This sensor has an I 2C interface. Use of this sensor requires a controller with I2C capability. Here is the datasheet.

Pyroelectric sensor package

This sensor package allows you to detect movement of humans and pets. It can also be used for finding candles and other sources of heat. The package is simple, efficient and entirely self contained including an op-amp to condition the output. Interfacing the sensor is simple with only one analog output to sample with a micro. The sensitivity of this sensor is tuned to the human body's infra-red emissivity. This part is discussed in depth in the book "Mobile Robots: Inspiration to Implementation". It is ready to interface Handyboard .

The package includes an Eltec 442-3 detector, fresnel lens that is matched to the detector, application notes, instructions on building a concentrating cone to focus a wide area of detection, and a pattern for building the cone.

Flame Detector Package

This detector package includes both the Hamamatsu C3704 Drive Circuit and the R2868 Flame Detector. Combined, these offer fantastic perfomance when looking for sources of UV radiation in the 185 - 260 nm range. This detector is amazing. Using the included sample circuit, you can detect a match lighting from 5 meters in a sunny room! Since the UV energy emitted by a flame bounces off walls, you don't even need to have a line of sight to the flame to detect it in a room. It can be used popular robotic controller such as MIT Handyboard system.

CMPS09 - Tilt Compensated Magnetic Compass

This amazing little compass combines a 3-axis magnetometer and a 3-axis accelerometer to compensate for up to 60 degrees of tilt. Module data is accessible via serial, I2C and as a PWM output.

Voltage - 3.3v-5v only required
Current - 25mA Typ.
Resolution - 0.1 Degree
Accuracy - Horizontal, 3-4 degrees.
Accuracy - Tilted to +/- 60 degrees, 4-5 degrees
Output 1 - I2C Interface, SMBUS compatible, 0-255 and 0-3599 , 100khz
Output 2 - Serial port, 9600 baud, no parity, 2 stop bits and 3.3v-5v signal levels
Output 3 - Timing Pulse 1mS to 37mS in 0.1mS increments

Datasheet and interface examples included with the package.

SP03 Text to Speech Synthesizer

The SP03 module includes an audio amplifier, a 3volt regulator and level conversion to 5volts, a PIC processor to provide easy communication with your host processor and even a small 40mm speaker, along with the Winbond WTS701 speech chip. Interfaces include an RS232 serial interface, I 2C bus interface, and a parallel interface. The parallel interface is used for selecting one of 30 predefined phrases. Arbitrary text may be sent to the module via the RS232 and I 2C interfaces. This text can be spoken on-the-fly. This general interface creates terrific potential for generating natural language communication from the robot based on varying sensor and algorithm data.

Datasheet and WINDOWS driver software are provided with the package.

KIT-VOICE-40s-RECORD -- 40 seconds Voice Recording Module

40 Second Message Recorder with Looping Option. A switch will loop the first message continuously. Recordings are stored in on-board non-volatile memory cells, providing zero power message storage.
